Over on Make last month, they ran an article about a little project that takes a couple of old computer CD Rom drives and turns them into a drawing machine that you can control from a Raspberry Pi.
I love these kind of projects, which is why I’m sharing it here.
It looks a little heath robinson I admit but this Cartesian drawing machine (That’s x,y&z directions for anyone not paying attention) is built from scraps that you might otherwise just send to the recycling centre.
Instead, you can pull them apart, re-purpose them and have a bit of fun before you chuck it all away.
You never know, you might end up with something that you don’t want to throw out.
