The Phoenix is taking shape

Been a busy old weekend on the 3d Printer front.

Not only have I been able to get the z-axis electronics working but I’ve just (in the last half hour) finished modifying my DLP Projector to reduce the focal length.

Will do a proper write up later but without modifications, the minimum distance at which I could focus my projector was 930mm. That gave me projected area that was half a metre wide.

I’ve modified the printer using examples that Mastermind included in his Chimera Instructable. I can’t thank him enough for putting all that information together.

Focusing at 300mm

After a bit (read lot) of swearing, prying, glueing (yes, oops) and poking about My projector will now focus at 300m and gives me a projection area of around 160mm wide. I should be able to get an maximum build area of 150mm x 120mm out of that.

This does mean my overall printer is probably going to be about 1m high but I can live with that.

Very happy right now.
