PiDrive : SSD for the Raspberry Pi on Kickstarter

Browsing through the popular projects on Kickstarter and I see someone has had the awesome idea to build an SSD expansion for the Raspberry Pi.

Think of this board as a top layer, which squares off the underlying Raspberry Pi board. All the “pins” are passed through without being used, it’s using the pins as an anchor point to attach the hard drive holder to the main board.

It does seem odd that you still have to run a cable from the SSD to one of the ports on the Raspberry Pi but that could just be a minor inconvenience to get the a system that boots up from zero power in under 30 seconds.

There are only 3 days left to go on this project as I write this post and they are over 350% funded.

Really pleased to see great ideas like these.
